Señor Grubby’s hosts benefit for Warrior Foundation

CARLSBAD — On July 15 from 6 to 10 p.m., Senor Grubby’s is having a party to celebrate its 7th anniversary.

The party will feature carnival games, a dunk tank, raffles, giveaways, and more to raise money for injured warriors recovering at Camp Pendleton, Naval Medical Center San Diego and Naval Base San Diego.

The free event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome.

Señor Grubby’s will be selling tickets to play carnival games to win prizes, take a shot at dunking volunteers in the dunk tank (including professional skateboarder Paul-Luc Ronchetti), enter a pull-up contest and win great raffle prizes.

All proceeds will be donated to Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station to fund quality-of-life items, support services and transitional housing for injured veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

“Local businesses like Señor Grubby’s represent the firestorm of giving that exists in San Diego,” said Sandy Lehmkuhler, founder and president of Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station. “This fundraiser will go a long way toward helping warriors in our own backyard as they embark on the long road to recovery.”

Since 2004, Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station has assisted four main groups of warriors: the seriously injured just returning home from war; those suffering from post-traumatic stress or traumatic brain injury; those undergoing physical or occupational therapy, and warriors who have been medically retired and remain in the San Diego community.

To serve this last group in particular, the foundation opened Freedom Station – a unique recovery transition center and housing facility that provides injured warriors with the acclimation time, guidance and resources to successfully make the transition from military service to civilian life.

“We thank the community for their many years of support and believing in what we do,” said Justin Jachura, president and co-founder of Señor Grubby’s. “We hope they will join Señor Grubby’s in giving back to the brave men and women who have given so much to our country through their selfless acts of heroism.”

Señor Grubby’s is located at 377 Carlsbad Village Dr.
