Michael McRoskey of Solana Beach was awarded third place by Bill Nye the Science Guy in the student video contest at the USA Science and Engineering Festival for his video entry “The Appliance of Science” Oct. 24 in Washington, D.C. The contest was sponsored by the Kavli Foundation, as part of its mission to advance public understanding of science. Michael was encouraged by his St. James Academy science teacher, Pat Paluso, to enter the national science video competition, so SJA is the recipient of the monetary award of $250. Courtesy photo
