Rail corridor working group applications due this week

ENCINITAS — The deadline for Encinitas residents interested in applying for a position on the city’s rail corridor working group is Thursday.

The creation of the working group was part of the City Council’s decision in March to withdraw support of the current alignment of the Cardiff Rail Trail and endorse a trail alignment along Coast Highway 101.

Suggested by Councilwoman Catherine Blakespear, the group will advise and work together with city staff and outside agencies on upcoming projects located in the rail corridor, including the rail trail, several proposed rail crossings and the overall vision for the rail corridor.

The council will select the group from the pool of applicants at a future council meeting. The working group application can be found here.
