MLS scout San Diego Flash players

SAN DIEGO — The San Jose Earthquakes of MLS have scouted San Diego Flash team captain and defender Adrian DuBois and Midfielder Sergio Valle-Ortiz, inviting them to tryout for a chance to join the professional team. The Earthquakes are the first club this year to take Flash players on trial. Last season the New England Revolution signed Flash player Ryan Guy, who continues to play for the Revolution.

San Diego Flash Head Coach Warren Barton said this opportunity to try out for an MLS club was well deserved.

“These trials are just reward for a phenomenal season to date for both players. The stats they are returning each game reflect such a high standard of play, that it was only a matter of time before the MLS clubs would starting inquiring about their services.

“Our club policy has always been to recruit and promote local San Diego talent. Today’s announcement, together with the signing of Ryan Guy by the New England Revolution last season, is a glowing endorsement of our system. We’ve always known that there is an abundance of quality of players here in San Diego. That is one of the reasons we created the San Diego Flash Soccer Club; to showcase local players and provide a platform for them to receive these sort of opportunities.” Coach Barton said.

The undefeated San Diego Flash (9 – 2 – 0) take on the Phoenix Monsoon (0 – 0 – 7) June 23 at Del Norte High School at 7 p.m.

A win will give the Flash an opportunity to defend their 2011 NPSL West-Southern Conference Championship.
