CARLSBAD — A large tree fell on private property and landed near several vehicles on Wednesday evening near the Santa Fe Ranch Apartments, prompting a response from police and firefighters.
Dispatchers received the call reporting a fallen tree just after 6 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Calle del Sur and Calle Caracas, according to Carlsbad Fire Department spokesperson Holly Gonzales. One fire engine responded, and firefighters checked for injuries and determined no one was inside the vehicles.
Video recorded the following morning shows a splintered trunk and heavy branches sprawled across a parking area near community mailboxes, with branches covering portions of parked vehicles. Yellow caution tape surrounded the area.
Responders turned the incident over to the homeowners association to handle the fallen tree, Gonzales said. The cause of the collapse and the extent of any property damage were unknown.
No injuries were reported.
