Houlihan Dog Park to close for three weeks

Dog owner who frequent the Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park should plan to take their four-legged friends to the park sometime before Tuesday, as Encinitas officials announced they will close the park for three weeks to perform scheduled maintenance.

The closure starts April 28 and ends May 21, according to a city news release.

Officials said the prolonged closure is to preserve the turf, complete fencing repairs and inspect and, if necessary, repair irrigation and drainage.

City spokeswoman Marlena Medford said the closure was due to the heavy use of the park, which opened in January in the new Encinitas Community Park.
