ESCONDIDO — The city of Escondido announced in a press release it will close access to pedestrians and cyclists along the bike path on the north side of the Escondido Creek Channel between Broadway and Hickory Street.
Due to the installation of new recycled water pipes, the path will be shut down —including after hours — from Tuesday through Jan. 18, 2016. All pedestrian detour signs will be posted.
During this time, the bike path will be considered as a construction zone. Therefore, only construction crews and emergency personnel will be permitted into the area. Work will be performed between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Future updates will be provided acknowledging which sections of the bike path have been returned to service; pedestrian detour signs will also be reassigned.

The new pipes are part of the city’s Recycled Water Easterly Main Extension Project, which will provide reclaimed water to local citrus farmers and the North County Cemetery District in eastern Escondido.
