Closures planned for railway

OCEANSIDE — The weekends of March 8 and March 9 and March 15 and March 16 will see rail service

interruptions along the coastal rail corridor.
On March 8 and March 9
—    Regular COASTER service
—  No Amtrak service – including the six select Amtrak ‘Rail 2 Rail’ trains
that serve all eight COASTER stations
—   No Metrolink service
OnMarch 15 and March 16
—    No COASTER service
—    No Amtrak, Metrolink or BNSF freight service
Customers are urged to plan ahead to take other forms of transit during these
service interruptions. On March 15 and March 16, there will be no replacement bus
service connecting to COASTER station stops. Alternatives for passengers
who normally use the COASTER include BREEZE bus route 101 or MTS
connections. An additional BREEZE Route 101 bus will be in service on
March 15, to accommodate heavier passenger loads. Passengers
with valid Metrolink fare may ride BREEZE 395 at no charge on these three
weekends. During the weekend of March 15 and March 16, the San Diego Association of
Governments (SANDAG), TASI, and the U.S. Navy will advance necessary
construction work at four sites along the coastal rail corridor in order to improve
rider experience. The four sites are: the Santa Margarita River Bridge on Camp
Pendleton, the Coast Boulevard crossing in Del Mar, the San Dieguito River Bridge,
and between Sorrento Valley Road and Miramar Road. The rail will re-open for
regularly scheduled COASTER and all other rail service in time for the morning
commute March 17. For additional information,  visit
