Carlsbad hosts teen talent shows

CARLSBAD — Carlsbad City Library launches the summer by inviting students in grades seven through 12 to show off their skills at one of three upcoming Teen Talent Shows.

On July 10, the library hosts a singing competition. On July 24 will be the dancing competition and Aug. 7 offers creative competition for skits, instrumental music and talents other than singing and dancing. Registration for the talent shows is required by the Tuesday before the scheduled show and is free. Performances must be less than 6 minutes long. To register or for more information, email [email protected] or call (760) 602-2058.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. at Carlsbad City Library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane. Performances are free and the public is welcome to join the fun. The competitors will be judged by a three-person panel. Prizes will be awarded to all contestants, and the top three finishers will receive special prizes.

The Teen Talent Shows are held as part of the library’s annual Summer Reading Program, which runs from June 23 to Aug. 8 and features reading incentives, activities and fun for teens who want to keep their reading skills sharp. The Teen Talent Shows are made possible by the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation’s Robert H. Gartner Cultural Endowment Fund.
