SAN DIEGO — CAPS Pregnancy+ Medical Clinics celebrated its 25th anniversary April 5 with the annual “Champion Life” Dinner Gala, highlighting its decades of service to women and families facing unintended pregnancies across San Diego County.
More than 350 supporters attended the event at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Diego, where festivities included a keynote speech from Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family, and remarks honoring CAPS founder Jenny Larson.
The evening began with a VIP reception for sponsors and underwriters before the main event, which featured a black and gold decor theme. CAPS Board Member and Pastor Tony Simoncini opened the program with a prayer, followed by a welcome from CAPS Board Member Mikala Janse van Rensburg. Executive Director Julie Dowler, who has been with the organization since its founding, delivered a presentation highlighting CAPS’ mission and growth.
Larson was recognized for her role in founding CAPS, which now operates five licensed medical clinics across San Diego. Since its inception, CAPS has provided pregnancy consultations, ultrasounds, parenting support, and social services to thousands of women and couples.
The organization also offers low- to no-cost treatment for sexually transmitted infections and support for individuals who have experienced miscarriage or past abortions.

“It is such an honor and a joy to have CAPS Founder Jenny Larson with us tonight as we celebrate our 25th anniversary,” Dowler said. “Jenny and her entire family and her husband Ted’s family have been amazingly dedicated supporters and advocates for CAPS all of these 25 years. One of the strongest driving forces of CAPS is the knowledge that just one child has a profound impact on generations of others. One child changes the course of history as Jenny has, and the generations before her, and I can only imagine what her three daughters will do.”
Daly, the evening’s featured speaker, shared personal stories from his difficult childhood, underscoring the value of every life regardless of circumstances. He praised CAPS for its work and announced a $5,000 donation from Focus on the Family toward the evening’s fundraising efforts.
“Just one child has a profound impact on generations,” Daly said. “I believe in what CAPS is doing, and I am proud to stand with CAPS for another 25 years.”
CAPS, which operates clinics near San Diego State University, UC San Diego, and other communities, reports serving more than 16,000 pregnancy cases. Services are provided free of charge, and the organization does not perform or refer for abortions.
After the gala, guests were encouraged to pledge donations to support CAPS’ continued expansion in the region. Media sponsors for the event included Ranch & Coast Magazine, Coast News Group, and KPRZ radio.
