44th annual ‘No Limits’ Walk & Roll benefit for cerebral palsy is Oct. 24 on Mission Bay

Everyone is invited to participate in the 44th Annual 5K “No Limits” Walk & Roll benefiting United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County. Participants can walk, run, roll or hand cycle around beautiful De Anza Cove while helping children and adults with disabilities access opportunities, resources and support.

Register anytime between now and October 24. Participants who raise $100 will receive this year’s Walk T-shirt. Other fundraising incentives include movie tickets, Visa cards and a special raffle for a trip to Disneyland. Face painting, music and refreshments will add to a morning of community spirit and fun.

Helping people build more independent lives

The event supports a local organization whose work reaches far beyond cerebral palsy. UCP San Diego serves thousands of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities throughout San Diego County each year, helping individuals participate more fully in everyday life while supporting their families.

Its adult day programs in San Diego and Escondido help participants develop practical living, communication and vocational skills. Employment programs provide job preparation, placement assistance and workplace support, helping people with disabilities earn a paycheck, build confidence and contribute their abilities to the community.

UCP’s assistive technology services help individuals find tools that make daily life more accessible. Adapted computers and communication devices can help someone express their needs, make choices and connect with others. For a person who cannot speak, access to the right communication tool can open an entirely new way to participate in the world.

For children and families, UCP offers learning opportunities through its toy lending library and free loans of gently used medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, specialized strollers, bath chairs and gait trainers. These services help families access essential equipment as their children’s needs change.

UCP also provides information, referrals and family support, helping caregivers navigate available resources. Its North County in-home respite pilot offers eligible families meaningful breaks from ongoing caregiving responsibilities.

Why your support matters

Supporting UCP helps turn these services into everyday possibilities: a child learning through play, an adult developing skills for a job, a person communicating more independently or a caregiver receiving a much-needed break.

Every team formed and every donation raised helps sustain local programs that promote dignity, independence and inclusion. Businesses, families and neighbors can all play a part in creating a community where people with disabilities have opportunities to learn, work, connect and pursue their goals.

Assemble a team of walkers, invite friends and coworkers, and go the distance to support children and adults with disabilities. If you cannot attend, consider donating or supporting a participant’s fundraising efforts.

All funds raised from the “No Limits” Walk will support UCP’s local programs and services throughout San Diego County.
