2015 art banners go on display

ENCINITAS — The 101 Artists’ Colony, Cardiff 101 Main Street and Leucadia 101 Main Street are once again unveiling the six-mile Arts Alive Banners art exhibit for 2015 from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 14 at 1950 N. Coast Highway 101. Come meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. The banners will again be displayed along the Historic Coast Highway on the lamp posts from La Costa Avenue in Leucadia to Cardiff’s Restaurant Row and the Seaside Market.

One of the favorite art events in North County, the Encinitas Arts Alive Banner Exhibit began in 2001. This is the 15th year artists have been invited to participate in the  show that will be installed immediately after the unveiling Feb.14. The banners will be on display until late May prior to the live auction June 7.

Silent bidding on the banners begins at the unveiling and bids can also be placed during the three-month outdoor exhibit, by calling Leucadia 101 Main Street at (760) 436-2320. Bidders can place bids right up to the June 7 auction, which will be hosted by auctioneer Rich Houk. The entire collection of original art will be on display one last time at the auction to be held at the Seaside Market Plaza in Cardiff.

Sponsors for this year’s exhibit are The Coast News, Hansen Surf Shop, Cardiff Seaside Market and Spy Optical.
