CARLSBAD — As election results continue to trickle in throughout Wednesday and the coming days, early figures show Kevin Shin and Teresa Acosta with double-digit leads over their opponents, likely securing victories in their respective races for seats on the Carlsbad City Council.
In the closely contested Carlsbad city treasurer race, Christian Peacox led a four-way competition with a narrow lead over Gregorio Kahn.
In the District 2 council race, Kevin Shin emerged with a clear lead, securing 57.12% of the vote (5,779 votes) over his opponent, Tyler Collins, who garnered 42.88% (4,338 votes).
For District 4, incumbent Councilmember Teresa Acosta maintained her seat with 55.20% of the vote (6,622 votes), outperforming challenger Greg Day, who received 44.80% (5,375 votes).
The race for Carlsbad City Treasurer was more competitive, featuring four candidates. Peacox led the field with 28.43% of the vote (10,574 votes), closely followed by Kahn with 25.51% (9,488 votes). Thomas Krouse, Jr. received 24.46% (9,096 votes), and Michael J. Williams trailed with 21.60% (8,034 votes).
