RSF Garden Club readies for special events

RANCHO SANTA FE — At a recent Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club quarterly meeting, executive director Erin Browne shared upcoming special events which the club is taking part in while inviting community wide participation.

Both events mentioned will occur in April.

First to appear on the calendar is The Village Tag & Craft Sale April 16 and April 17 at the Garden Club.  According to Browne, this event has transformed and taken on various forms for more than a decade.

“It started out as an annual rummage sale and has transitioned into a two-day sale, including professional retail sellers as well as homemade items and rummage sale type items,” she said.

Browne pointed out that this is an important two-day event because holding a 501c3 nonprofit status means that the club relies on fundraisers such as this, as well as its membership dues. The Tag Sale is one way it supports the organization’s operations, she said.

And this is where the community plays a huge role in its success.

“We’d love for the community to support the event by being a vendor and/or shopping at the event. There aren’t many opportunities like this for residents to get out and display their hobbies, talents, and treasures,” Browne said. “Garden Club members can rent a booth for $50 to sell their items and non-Garden Club members can rent a booth for $125.”

Browne wants people to know that there are some special rates available for people who want to set up their vendor booths on the outdoor lawn.

While the RSF Garden Club celebrates traditions, they are also welcoming a new one this year in partnership with the RSF Library Guild’s Petals and Prose event.

“We are very excited to be collaborating with the RSF Library Guild to offer a youth variation of the Rancho Days tradition, Petals and Prose. For the first time ever, children will have the opportunity to select a book and create an artistic representation using items found in nature to capture the spirit of the book,” Browne said.

The event is slated for April 28 at the RSF Library.

Browne said that advanced signup is required and children can pick up their books at the library located at the Children’s Library Desk.

The RSF Garden Club is thrilled with the Petals and Prose partnership and looks forward to the blooming of young creative minds.
