ENCINITAS — Boy Scout Troop 2000 has announced the return of its haunted hotel on the historic grounds of the Olivenhain Meeting Hall this October.
For the past 24 years, the historic grounds are transformed into spooky scenes full of surprises at every turn. This year, guests can visit the Zombie Banquet, delve into Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory, stay for a spell at the Witches’ Lair and more.
The youngest guests can explore the Candy Mystery Trail to help Murray the Mummy and friends solve a mystery.
After all the frightful adventures, guests can enjoy refreshments, visit craft tables and play classic carnival games.
“The Troop has been working since early summer to create some new rooms and new carnival games, as well as bringing back the ever-popular ‘Dot Room’ walk-through experience from many years ago,” said Michael Tryon, Troop 2000 committee chair. “And as always, we appreciate the support and partnership of the Olivenhain Town Council.”
The event is family friendly with low/no-scare and high-scare options. Parents can also bring younger children before dusk settles to help ease up on the scares.
All actors in the hotel are between the ages of 12 and 18.
The Olivenhain Haunted Hotel runs Friday and Saturday nights during the weekends of Oct. 12 and 13, 19 and 20, and 26 and 27 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at 423 Rancho Santa Fe Road.
Tickets are $8. Cash and credit are accepted at the door.
The haunted hotel serves as a fundraiser for Troop 2000’s monthly camping and backpacking treks as well as merit badge activities like water sports, skiing, climbing, lifesaving and more. The funds also help the troop provide scholarships for Scouts to attend BSA Summer Camps and local community service projects at schools and parks.
Olivenhain Town Council also benefits from the fundraiser.
