The sign will act as a new landmark at the heart of the Sunset Market, according to a recent release.
The group of property owners, Downtown Oceanside Property and Business Improvement District, is requesting proposals for a landmark sign at the intersection of Tremont Street and Pier View Way.
The selection process will be two-tiered. The first round will see candidates submitting an initial design by Jan. 13, 2021. The top five designs will move into the final round where candidates will receive $1,000 and four weeks to flesh out their designs.
The district’s ad hoc committee will choose three of these five submissions for a public vote to determine the winner. The winning design will be presented to the Oceanside City Council for approval prior to moving into the development stage.
The Downtown Oceanside Property and Business Improvement District is an assessment district, managed by MainStreet Oceanside, which is tasked with providing additional services beyond the level the city of Oceanside currently provides, within a defined area.
