From left, Canon Howard Smith, director of development, Diocese of San Diego, joins the toast to the new vicar of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Carlsbad, The Rev. Dr. Laura Sheridan-Campbell, along with The Rev. Bob Nelson of St. Anne’s Oceanside, Holy Cross Senior Warden Michael Collier, Suzanne Foucault and Chaplain Babs Meairs, with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Museum Historical Society. The congregation held a Celebration of New Ministry on Nov. 2, officially welcoming Sheridan-Campbell who came on as vicar in July, replacing interim Vicar Theodore Atwood. Sheridan-Campbell’s focus is on “sustaining a community of faith and valuing differences in congregations, as that is the stuff from which stronger, more effective, ministry emerges,” she said. Holy Cross meets Sundays at 9 a.m. at 6066 Corte del Cedro. For more information, visit www.holy-cross-church.org. Courtesy photo
