ENCINITAS — Nestled in the heart of the city, Leading Note Studios has been nurturing a passion for music in both children and adults of all ages for the past 15 years.
Located at 2146 Encinitas Blvd in Suite 105, Leading Note Studios began its journey with a single vision from founder Camille Hastings.
“I walked into the building and I could hear music playing,” she said.
For Hastings, that moment marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to fostering a love for music.
With over 700 students attending weekly at the Encinitas location, the music school has become a vibrant hub of musical activity.
The addition of a second location at 760 S. Rancho Santa Fe Rd in San Marcos in February 2020 has further expanded its reach, now welcoming an additional 500 students weekly. The San Marcos branch not only offers music lessons but also boasts a theatre for musical theatre classes, music shows, comedy nights and community events.
Throughout its 15-year history, Leading Note Studios has been more than just a music school, according to its founder.
Hastings described the music school as a cornerstone of the community, providing music to local events, retirement homes, street fairs, art institutes and other venues across North County.
The school also strives to be accessible for everyone by offering scholarship programs and providing instruments to students in need.
During the Covid-19 pandemic a few years ago, Leading Note Studios adapted by offering virtual lessons through Zoom to ensure music education continued without interruption.
Leading Note Studios is celebrating its 15-year anniversary on Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at its Encinitas studio location with live music performances by students, food, a bounce house, raffle tickets, face painting and tours.
