ENCINITAS — The San Diego International Orchid Fair will bloom at Quail Botanical Gardens Oct. 3 from 1 to 5 p.m., Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 230 Quail Garden Drive.
Visitors can expect to see thousands of species and hybrids, exhibits, sales, as well as lectures and official American Orchid Society judging and ribbon judging. This is the once-a-year orchid event held in Southern California with a focus on a maximum of International Vendors. Orchids from vendors of various countries such as China, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Brazil and Ecuador will be on display and for sale. Orchid related products, artistic pottery, paintings, and books will also be available, as well as ongoing lectures on culture and care.
General admission fees are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and active military and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Children age 2 and under are free. Membership admission cost is free. Discount coupons are available at the Quail Botanical Gardens Web site at www.qbgardens.org.
