Girl Scout Gold Award for local scouts

NORTH COUNTY — High school-level San Diego Girl Scouts, in June, were presented with the most prestigious award in Girl Scouting — the Gold Award — for addressing important local, national and global issues through innovative service projects that create sustainable impact.

The Girl Scouts various projects address a variety of important issues, including access to mental health resources; climate change and protecting the environment; social justice; education; and support for military service members and their children.

The new Gold Award scouts from Carlsbad include:

Linnea Howard; Adult Girl Scout (college freshman); Project Title: Creating a More Sustainable Future in Fashion

Sydney Lasensky; Ambassador Girl Scout (grade 12) / Trifecta Girl Scout; Project Title: The Healthy Grub Club

Hayden Ma; Ambassador Girl Scout (grade 12) / Trifecta Girl Scout; Project Title: The Outlet Initiative

Lauren Mathios; Ambassador Girl Scout (grade 11); Project Title: Books To Go!

The Gold Scout recipient from Del Mar is Claire Rose Deller; Ambassador Girl Scout (grade 12) / Trifecta Girl Scout; Project Title: Girls 4 Tech

From Encinitas, new Gold Scouts are:

  • Laura Rikkers; Ambassador Girl Scout (grade 12) / Trifecta Girl Scout; Project Title: Obstructive Sleep Apnea Symptoms and Risk: Materials to Educate Teens
  • Casady Spencer; Ambassador Girl Scout (grade 12) / Trifecta Girl Scout; Project Title: Rescue Paws

From Escondido, the Gold Scout is Ailish Brennan; Adult Girl Scout (college freshman); Project Title: Educational Garden Workshops

From Oceanside, the Gold Award was earned by:
