Five people file for SDUHSD election

ENCINITAS — A pair of longtime incumbent board members in the San Dieguito Union High School District face three opponents on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Board President Beth Hergesheimer and Trustee Joyce Dalessandro are seeking their fourth and sixth terms on the school board, respectively.

Randy Berholtz, Lucile Hooton Lynch and Bob Nascenzi comprise the field of challengers.

Berholtz, listed as a lawyer, businessman and professor on the official candidate list, is a lecturer at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law and acting general counsel and secretary of Innovus Pharmaceuticals, Inc., among other titles.

Lynch is a former trial attorney who left her profession to start an award-winning educational DVD series for school-aged children called Steps4Kids.

Nascenzi has served as chief executive officer for a host of companies and also briefly ran for U.S. Congress in 2011 before bowing out of the race and endorsing the eventual victor, Democrat Scott Peters.

The Coast News will have more about this election in coming weeks.
