Election 2026: Solana Beach City Council

The District 2 and District 4 seats on the Solana Beach City Council will be on the ballot this year.

The Solana Beach City Clerk’s Office confirmed that no one has filed candidate intention statements at this time, and that the nomination period begins July 13. However, District 2 Councilmember Kristi Becker confirmed she will be running for re-election.

Becker was elected in 2018 and is seeking a third term. She said the most important issue affecting the city is the ongoing threat to local control posed by state development mandates, which can drastically change the character of neighborhoods.

Becker said she is focused on realistic solutions for building affordable housing where it is compatible with the city and supported by existing infrastructure.

“I support sustainable progress – the kind that ensures land use decisions enhance our quality of life,” Becker said. “Experience, qualifications, and values matter when determining how our city progresses and develops.  I believe we can preserve the character of Solana Beach while planning responsibly for the future.”

District 4 Councilmember Jill MacDonald will not seek re-election after her current term, she confirmed.
