SAN MARCOS — Bradley Bike Park was briefly closed last week after city staff found a gate lock cut and several jumps damaged.
City employees found the damage when they arrived to open the park Sept. 15, a city spokesperson said in an email.
“On Tuesday, Sept. 15, City of San Marcos staff arrived at Bradley Bike Park to open the park to the public. But staff found that the lock on the gate had been cut and there was damage to multiple jumps that appeared to be caused by improper use. Staff had to unexpectedly close the bike park on Tuesday and part of Wednesday to make repairs, make sure the material was dry, and overall ensure the bike park was safe to reopen to the public.”
The park is closed Mondays for maintenance, but the city received several reports that a group had used the park Monday, Sept. 14, and apparently posted a video of themselves riding motorized bikes, which are prohibited at Bradley, the spokesperson said.
Because of the damaged course and cut lock, the city filed a report with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
