Science scholarships, internships available

OCEANSIDE — Students interested in a career in nuclear energy can find a job and receive a free college education through a new program at MiraCosta College.
MiraCosta has partnered with the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station to offer 48 full-ride scholarships for students who enroll in the new maintenance and operations job preparation program.
The scholarship will cover all academic expenses, including tuition and books.
San Onofre is also offering paid summer internships. Participating students will earn $20.97 an hour.
Students will be trained for skilled, entry-level careers in the nuclear power industry, which offers challenging work and competitive salaries.
Interested students can learn more about the program at an informational session at 6 p.m. April 22 in room 3601, MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
