Free concert series in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD — The halls will rock with joyful music as the North Coast Singers, Nov. 7, and the Martin Luther King Community Choir of San Diego, Nov. 14, bring their special brands of music to Holy Cross Episcopal Church.
The final two performances of the church’s free fall concert series will begin at 3 p.m. at 6066 Corte del Cedro in The Landing Business Park off Yarrow Drive. For directions or more information, call (760) 930-1270.
The North Coast Singers Youth Chorus is a talented group of young voices sponsored by the San Dieguito Performing Arts Association. The program has four ensembles serving 120 children, in grades two through 12. The choir offers a musical education with songs from many cultures.
The Martin Luther King Community Choir of San Diego performs gospel concerts to raise funds for giving educational grants to San Diego high school seniors pursuing a college degree in visual or performing arts. The music of the more than 50-member group is inspirational and uplifting, and celebrates the history of the negro spiritual.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Choir was conceived in 1990 through collaboration of the San Diego Symphony Association, the San Diego County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and the San Diego Baptist Ministers Union. In 1996, Pastor Ken Anderson, through the assistance of the San Diego County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and the San Diego Baptist Ministers Union, became the director of the Martin Luther King Commemorative Choir.
