NORTH COUNTY — The holidays are here and Voices for Children now offers its most popular starfish color, amber purple, in an ornament. Holiday shoppers can choose from amber purple, traditional clear or festive red. In addition, jewelry collectors will be interested in new starfish earrings. Custom-designed and hand-made by Desert Heart especially for Voices for Children, the earrings are each adorned with a sterling silver starfish and Austrian crystals.
Each starfish collectible is beautifully packaged with Voices for Children’s mission statement inside and a copy of Loren Eiseley’s inspirational starfish story, “Star Thrower.” This story emphasizes how each living thing — whether a starfish or a foster child — is unique and important. All proceeds from starfish sales directly support Voices for Children’s CASA program for foster children in San Diego County.
In addition to earrings and ornaments, Voices for Children offers several hand-blown glass starfish paperweights and keepsakes. The keepsakes, ornaments, paperweights, and earrings are available for purchase at 9620 Chesapeake Drive, Ste. 202 in Kearny Mesa or by phone at (858) 569-2096, ext. 285 or online at www.speakupnow.org. A limited number of starfish will also be available at Wall Street Art in Framing, 1113 Wall Street, La Jolla, and The Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery, 7946 Ivanhoe Ave. La Jolla.
Voices for Children helps abused, neglected, and abandoned children in foster care through our network of Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASAs. For more information about Voices for Children, visit our www.speakupnow.org.
