CARLSBAD — Carlsbad Village gears up for a festive holiday season with recent streetscape improvements and a list of programs and events.Come enjoy the Holiday Window Display Contest, where shoppers can text in
their votes for their favorite merchant displays. The summer’s popular “Flicks at the Fountain” free outdoor movie series also continues with a special holiday encore, featuring “Elf” on Dec. 12 and “Home Alone” on Dec. 19, both at 6:30 p.m.
“Friday Night Live,” a local busker music event in the Village, also continues with a special holiday encore of caroling and festive seasonal music from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 on State Street.
As part of its capital improvement budget, the city recently installed new hanging flower baskets and decorative strand lighting on light poles on Carlsbad Village Drive from I-5 to Ocean Boulevard and a row of poinsettias enhance the photo opportunities at the fountain at State Street and Grand Avenue.
