Update: Four-alarm structure fire ‘controlled’

ESCONDIDO — An update from the city of Escondido on Friday said the four-alarm structure fire at the vacant building on Hale Avenue has been “controlled.”

The fire, which began on Thursday morning at the former site of Talone’s Meat Market at 559 N. Hale Ave., destroyed the building, declaring it to be “red-tagged” by city building officials.

” The primary concern for the scene now is safety and the property has been secured by the owner,” according to the news release. “An emergency demolition permit has been issued to the property owner and the work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 5.”

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
