OCEANSIDE — A grand opening celebration was held Feb. 17 as Tri-City Medical Center opened a new center in Carlsbad for Occupational Medicine and Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. The new facility is the second location for each service. Primary locations for these services have been located adjacent to the main hospital in Oceanside for several years.
The center is adjacent to the hospital at 6260 El Camino Real, in the medical office building is adjacent to Tri-City Wellness Center. Tri-City’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center was recently chosen as the Facility of the Year by industry professionals.
The specialized wound care focuses on treating chronic and non-healing wounds, such as those that are common with diabetic patients. Many patients have lived for months or even years with non-healing wounds. At the centers, patients breathe 100 percent oxygen inside of a pressurized chamber for a prescribed period of time. The therapy quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen to accelerate the healing of wounds and is effective in fighting certain types of infection.
Much attention has been given to increasing rates of diabetes in the U.S. This additional facility will allow Tri-City to meet the medical needs of more patients. Physicians can refer patients directly to the Wound Care Center for treatment.
