CARLSBAD— Carlsbad residents will soon be hearing more about fire season preparedness.
Volunteers will distribute fire prevention materials to residences in selected areas of Carlsbad in relation to “Before the Threat,” a regional fire education campaign being coordinated by the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services and the San Diego County Fire Chiefs Association.
Carlsbad’s Community Emergency Response Team and other city volunteers will assist with distributing the informational materials, including a brief DVD featuring firefighters talking to residents about ways to protect their homes. Materials will be distributed July 25 and Aug. 1.
The cost of materials is being funded by Farmers Insurance. Residents who receive the packets are encouraged to use them to help prepare for wild fires.
Those interested in volunteering to distribute the materials can call Carlsbad Community Volunteer Coordinator Sue Irey at (760) 434-2929.
