Sunny Skies and Ocean Views for Encinitas Turkey Trot

NORTH COUNTY – “It’s a family tradition” is more than just a tagline for the Encinitas Turkey Trot. This family-friendly race is among San Diego locals’ favorite holiday rituals simply for the striking beauty of the course which starts and ends under the iconic Encinitas sign. November mornings are magical in Encinitas, and the warm Santa Ana winds will make this a trot to remember with around 3,500 people expected to join in on the fun.

Runners and walkers alike will wobble along Encinitas’ award-winning main street, passing by Swami’s Beach and overlooking the majestic pacific ocean for the majority of the course. As competitive runners bolt away towards a new best time, families and friends flock forward dressed as turkeys, adding spice to this already exciting event. Cash prizes are awarded to contest winners, and everyone gets a t-shirt and medal for completing the race, as well as bragging rights at the dinner table.

There are so many reasons to be thankful this year, and turkey trotters can feel good knowing they are helping VANCE’s “Christmas for Kids” program putting presents under the tree for hundreds of local military families in need. Most trotters come for their health, the fun, and a sense of connection with the community. Others just want to add this year’s t-shirt and medallion to their collection.

Whatever your reason may be, the Encinitas Turkey Trot is sure to be a good time. Come wobble before you gobble this year and experience why the Encinitas Turkey Trot is a family tradition in North County.
