CNN.com reports that a cruise ship stranded off the coast of Mexico with nearly 4,500 people onboard is due to arrive in San Diego on Thursday afternoon.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Rachel Polish said that there are now three tugboats towing the Splendor, which was stranded about 130 miles west of Ensenada on Nov. 9, to land. The ship lost power after a fire in the engine room, according to a statement released by Carnival.
The closer the ship gets to shore, the better their cellular service and the ship’s phone service is working on a limited basis.
Carnival has already promised passengers a refund and a free cruise.
The USS Ronald Reagan, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, resupplied the cruise ship Tuesday evening, with boxes of water, frozen bread, sandwich meats, granola bars and more.
No major problems have been reported.
