CARLSBAD — The Coastal Communities Concert Band’s 28th Anniversary Concert is set for 2 p.m. March 13 at Carlsbad Community Church, 3175 Harding St. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for seniors and students. For advance tickets, call (760) 436-6137.
As is their tradition, the Coastal Communities Concert Band and Director Robert Fleming will feature a soloist from one of the military bands in Washington, D.C. This year’s guest is Tom Holtz, principal tuba player with the “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band.
Holtz is a member of the Off Bass Brass and Buck Creek Jazz Band. He has also performed with the University of Maryland Jazz Ensemble and the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra. Holtz’s appearance is a special treat for Fleming, as Holtz was one of the director’s students while earning a Bachelor of Music degree at Arizona State University.
