Cedros merchant Ruby Lang, of SoLo, has built a Day of the Dead display for the past eight years in front of her store at 309 S. Cedros Ave. to celebrate the annual Nov. 1 holiday, but this year she is making something special. This year, the ofrenda, or altar, is dedicated to her fellow Cedros merchant, longtime friend and Cardiff-by-the-Sea resident Saba Shirazi, who was killed this summer in a car accident on Interstate 5. “She had an amazing spirit and a beautiful smile. Her loss will be felt for the rest of my life and so many others, I’m sure,” Lang said. “I know many people in the community knew her and will appreciate knowing that we are honoring her in this small way.” Courtesy photo
