LA JOLLA — The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, 1008 Wall St., will once again sponsor its Jazz at the Athenaeum series through March.
It is the season of the piano, featuring rare San Diego appearances by four jazz pianists. Series tickets are $68 for members and $88 for nonmembers. Individual tickets are $18 for members and $23 for nonmembers.
Marilyn Crispell, known for coruscating, percussive solos, full of dense, ringing chords and lightning glissandos, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17.
The Hoenig Pilc Project will headline at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29, featuring Ari Hoenig on drums, Jean-Michel Pilc on piano, and Hans Glawischnig on bass.
At 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23, the St. Lawrence String Quartet will be featured. The quartet was nominated for two Grammy Awards, in the categories of Best Chamber Music and Best Classical Contemporary Composition, for its recording, Yiddishbbuk.
The final concert in January will offer the Salon Series with Jacquelyne Silver’s three-part salon series, this time with a look at movies at 2 p.m. Jan. 25.
