CARLSBAD — The San Marcos Fitness Roundup, a 5K run/walk, 11K trail run and post-race shindig, is set for April 9. Both runs start at 8 a.m. near the Mangrum Track & Soccer Field on the Cal State San Marcos campus, located at 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road.
Now in its second year, the San Marcos Fitness Roundup features the San Marcos Community 5K Run/Walk — a relatively flat, 3.1-mile course around the campus and surrounding city streets — and the Double Peak Challenge 11K. The Challenge is an approximately 7-mile, mostly-trail run to Double Peak, the highest point in the 230-acre Double Peak Park. Both races finish on the Mangrum Track.
An awards presentation and post-race shindig complete with live entertainment provided by Cowboy Jack and the North County Cowboys will be held at the Mangrum Track. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Cal State San Marcos athletic department.
The pre-race registration fee for the San Marcos Community 5K Run/Walk are $25 for adults and $15 for students of all ages and children age 12 and under. Registration fees for the Double Peak Challenge 11K are $35 for adults and $25 for students of all ages and children age 12 and under. Event-day registration fees are an additional $5 for the 5K and an additional $10 for the 11K. Event-day registration starts at 6:30 a.m.
