ENCINITAS — Fifteen San Diego jazz musicians are teaming together to perform their favorite music by the Brazilian composer and guitarist Chico Pinheiro from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Drive. The cost is $15 at the door.
The focus for this concert is to spread a higher awareness of contemporary Brazilian jazz to the community. The performance consists of three sets of 30-minute performances by 15 of San Diego jazz musicians and Brazilian jazz aficionados.
The first group is made up of Allison Adams Tucker, singer; Louisa West, flute; Danny Green, piano; Evona Wascinski, upright bass; Dylan Savage, drums; and Chad Farran, percussion.
The second group includes Kamau Kenyatta, piano; Fabio Oliveira, percussion; Evona Wascinski, upright bass; Dylan Savage, drums; and Scooter Oyama, guitar.
The third group consists of Sky Ladd, piano; Russell Bizzett, drums; Grant, Clarkson, bass; Jimmy Patton, guitar; Steve Haney, percussion; and Louisa West, flute. It will also feature JP Dietrich and Steve Haney on percussion.
