CARLSBAD — On Nov. 30 about 5:52 p.m. Carlsbad police and fire personnel responded to Tamarack Avenue and Jefferson Street after receiving several calls of a male subject lying in the street. The officers and firefighters at the scene determined the male was not the victim of a collision, but was running and had collapsed for an unknown reason. The 18-year-old male was taken to Tri-City Hospital where he later died.
The identity of the male was not immediately known, but later in the evening a family member contacted the police while searching for him in the area. An investigator from the San Diego County Coroner’s office responded and the male was identified. The cause of his death is under investigation by the San Diego County Coroner’s office. Identification will be made by the County Coroner.
