Resource center opens new thrift shop

OCEANSIDE — Community Resource Center (CRC) has opened a fourth thrift store in North County with proceeds aimed at putting people back to work.The new Thrift Store & Donation Center at 1405 S. El Camino Real, is already open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with a grand opening set for Nov. 10. The 5,000-square-foot store and donation center offers bargains on designer clothing and shoes, furniture, books, house wares, and more, with new inventory every day. Customers who bring a bag of donated items to the grand opening on Nov. 10 receive a 10-percent-off coupon for purchases made that day.

CRC will operate the new thrift store to generate program income as well as train and employ individuals at risk of homelessness. The enterprise includes a partnership with Manpower, a leader in workforce development, training, and job placement. CRC’s expansion is supported by The Roberts Enterprise Development Fund (REDF), a California venture philanthropy organization that added CRC to its growing portfolio of nonprofit social enterprises in 2011.
