Rancho equestrian supports scholarships

RANCHO SANTA FE — Charity Fair Horse Show President Susan Farrior of Rancho Santa Fe recently presented a check for $6,000 on behalf of the Horse Show to her fellow Don Diego Scholarship Foundation board members in support of Don Diego’s mission to provide college scholarships to outstanding San Diego County high school seniors who have participated in Del Mar Fairgrounds events.

The annual Charity Fair Horse Show, which takes place during the San Diego County Fair, benefits Don Diego and the Helen Woodward Animal Center. Information on the organization and the 2015 event is at  HYPERLINK “http://www.charityfairhorseshow.com” charityfairhorseshow.com.

Don Diego Board Chairman Paul Ecke III said, “We applaud Susan and the Horse Show for their many years of support. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and organizations such as these, Don Diego has been able to significantly increase the number of scholarships and amount of funding. For many years, we gave four $5,000 scholarships, for a total of $20,000. In 2015, 13 deserving students will receive a total of $41,500 to pursue their college and career goals.”

The Don Diego Scholarship Foundation was named for Don Diego, aka Tom Hernandez, who served as the Fair’s welcoming goodwill ambassador from 1947-1984. The Foundation has awarded more than $640,000 in college scholarships and grants for agricultural education since its inception in1986.
