Pumpkin Plunge kicks of fall season

CARLSBAD — The city of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation will again host its annual Pumpkin Plunge, a spooky swim party for the entire family from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Monroe Street Pool, 3401 Monroe St.
Attendees can snare their own pumpkin from a floating pumpkin patch, play swimming games, watch a wicked water show featuring divers from San Dieguito Synchronized Swimmers, Dive San Diego, and Zombie Divers, participate in a costume contest and enjoy some early trick-or-treating.
“Pumpkin Plunge sells out every year,” said Rachael Shay, special events supervisor. “Plus, it’s a great way to keep kids active and swimming while getting in the mood for Halloween.”
Pre-sale tickets, available for $8, will be on sale until 5 p.m. Oct. 6. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $12 beginning at 11:30 a.m. Children ages 3 and younger are free. Children ages 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult when in the water.
