SOLANA BEACH — Pets and their owners looking for a “paws”atively fun day are encouraged to attend Solana Beach’s annual Paws in the Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14 at La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Ave.
The free event, presented by the Solana Beach Parks and Recreation Commission, will include a variety of contests, activities and exhibitions. Attendees can get an up-close look at exotic reptiles and animals such as a fennec fox, a kinkajou and an albino python. New this year is a professional agility demonstration and an opportunity to exercise with your pet.
Pet Pros will be on hand to provide positive training methods and healthy diets. Attendees can also meet
pet sitters, practitioners, groomers and artists.
Rescued pets will be available for adoption, and the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program’s Neuter Scooter will be onsite to provide low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs, cats and rabbits. Appointments are required. Call SNAP at (866) 772-9287.
Beginning at 1 p.m. there will be contests and prizes for the ugliest, cutest, smallest and biggest dog, cutest puppy, best tail wagger, best costume and closest owner-pet lookalike.
Dogs must be on leashes. Gently used dog toys, leashes, beds and blankets will be collected for animal rescue groups.
