CARLSBAD —A Parent Night will be held at 6 p.m. March 9, at Jefferson Elementary School in the auditorium, 3743 Jefferson St.
Parents of prospective and current Jefferson students are invited for a presentation regarding the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme at Jefferson.
Paperwork for Carlsbad Unified School District students interested in transferring to or retaining their placement at Jefferson must be turned in to the Jefferson office by March 31. Forms are currently available at Jefferson and also will be distributed at Parent Night.
According to Principal Jane Hartman, “Jefferson began the process to become an IB magnet school in Fall 2006. In June 2009, we became one of only about one dozen schools in California fully authorized to teach the internationally respected IB Programme at the elementary level.”
The IB Programme develops the whole child and encourages students to become active, compassionate, lifelong learners. State standards are taught from a global perspective through an inquiry-based approach intended to stimulate students to think; and to think outside the box. For more information or to schedule a campus tour, contact Jefferson’s IB Coordinator Shelley Thomas or Principal Jane Hartman at (760) 331-5500.
