RANCHO SANTA FE — Those who plan to take part in the Rancho Santa Fe Fourth of July Parade be advised, there has been a change of where to line up.
This year, the parade will be forming in the parking lot of the R. Roger Rowe School at 12:15 p.m. The school is on Avenida de Acacias and La Granada.
This is a change from past years when it formed in the parking lot of the Association.
The parade for the 31st annual event begins at 1 p.m.
The parade will include community bands, a parade princess, floats, clowns, fire trucks, vintage cars, an honor guard, Boy and Girls Scouts, and of course the ever-popular decorated bikes and golf carts.
Following the parade at 1:30 p.m. there will be a picnic and a performance by the Coastal Community Concert Band. Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chicken and ice cream can be purchased at the event.

In other Association news, the road resurfacing projects are ongoing throughout the community and may cause some disruption in travel, said Ivan Holler, planning director. Following is a schedule for the start days and durations of phase 1 of the roadwork. Las Planideras, July 9 for one day; Ramblas de las Flores, July 9 for three days; Via de Fortuna, July 10 for one day; Los Morros, July 10 for three days; Lago Lindo, July 12 for two days; and Mimulus, July 13 for two days.
The wrap up on the projects will begin July 18 on Las Planideras for
two days; on July 19 on Rambla de las Flores for three days; on July 19 on
Via de Fortuna for four days; on July 23 or Los Morros for three days; on
July 23 on Lago Lindo for three days; and on July 23 on Mimulus for three
days.
“Please be aware that this schedule may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, Holler said.
Also discussed at the June 7 Association meeting was the house that is for sale on the Osuna property.
“The house is on the Multiple Listing Service and there have been 12 showings already,” Holler said.
Association President Jack Queen asked Holler asked what was the next step after the house sold.
“Your board will approve the proposal then it will go out to the members for approval,” he said. “It is a member notifying process.”
Holler also reported that SDG&E will be in the area installing Smart Meters.
“No one needs to be home, unless the property is gated,” said Holler, who recently had his own meter changed out.
“I can’t read the new meter. It just flashes, but I still have power,” he said.
Pete Smith, Association manger, reported 500 ballots have been returned in the election of two new board members.
“That’s pretty good for an uncontested election,” Smith said.
Rochelle Putnam and Craig McAllister will replace Jack Queen and Dick Doughty, whose terms have expired.
