Operation Homefront gathers backpacks and supplies for military children

CAMP PENDLETON — Operation Homefront is hosting Backpack Brigade events for military children in order to assist families with the costs of supplies for their school-aged children.
Operation Homefront is currently collecting backpacks and school supplies as donations from the community. Once the collections are complete, children will be invited to events where they can pick out their own backpack and then stuff it with all of the supplies they need for a successful school year.
For those interested in donating, Operation Homefront is asking for spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, notebook paper, notebooks, rulers, colored pencils, calculators, erasers, and new backpacks.
For the North County area, backpacks and supplies may be dropped off at
184 N. Coast Highway101, Encinitas; Realty Executives
333 S. Juniper Street, Escondido; 859 N. Broadway, Escondido
or 2205 Vista Way, Oceanside.
It is also possible to sponsor a child by mailing a check of $35 to Operation Homefront at P.O. Box 26747, San Diego, CA 92196.
Operation Homefront is a nonprofit that provides emergency assistance and morale for our troops, for the families they leave behind, and to the wounded warriors returning home.
