No updates in Nonu shooting

OCEANSIDE — Detectives are continuing the search for the suspect involved in the shooting death of 22-year-old Justin Nonu.
Lt. Leonard Mata of the Administrative Services Department said that there are no new updates in the case at this time.
The shooting occurred May 21 at the 1700 block of Kraft St. in Oceanside killing Nonu, an Oceanside High graduate and standout football player.
Nonu and four other men were standing in the driveway of a residence when the suspect or suspects started shooting at them from across the street. Nonu was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency help arrived.
The suspect, who was described as a man wearing dark clothing, fled on foot, heading westbound on Kraft Street. The suspect is still at large.
Another man at the scene was struck by gunfire, sustaining minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined. The victims were not associated with a gang.
