RANCHO SANTA FE — At a recent Rancho Santa Fe Association Board of Directors Meeting, new Association interim manager, Christy Whalen, introduced the Association’s new staff members. The three new staff members were present at the Sept. 1 meeting.
She first introduced Rick Casswell, who will be the Association’s senior planner. Whalen noted that Casswell is very qualified coming from the city of Del Mar.
Serving the new associate planner role at the Association is Denise Vo who also has a background in telecommunications.
Karlin Molina was chosen to fill Whalen’s role. Whalen originally started as communications manager last year at the Association. Molina’s new position slightly differs in that she will be championing both communications and special events.
“We’re thrilled to have all these talented people on staff,” Whalen said.
Whalen went on to share that the Association sent out the Governing Documents Packet the prior week and noted that members should have them by now to review for their upcoming ballot submittal.
“If you have not received it, please contact the office, and we will put you in contact with the elections inspector,” she said.
Whalen said that they are asking members to read through their packet, which she described as thorough and comprehensive.
“You’ll see that we’ve got red lines for the Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation; and, we’ve got rationale for why those changes were made,” she said.
Whalen continued, “You’ll find we included a clean copy of each of those documents.”
It’s estimated that revisions to these documents took nearly a year. Members are asked to submit their ballot in regards to these proposed changes, which is due by Oct. 5 at 5 p.m.
In regards to the roundabout project in RSF, Whalen said they have an environmental report that is awaiting certification.
From there, a funding schedule would be next in line. According to Whalen, the funding may not be available for quite some time and it is at the discretion of the county’s accounting, which also weighs in on safety measures.
Whalen noted that the county doesn’t view the intersections as a very unsafe situation.
A Rancho Santa Fe community-wide survey revealed that the roundabouts would be located along the Paseo Delicias intersections of Via de la Valle, El Montevideo/La Valle Plateada, and El Camino del Norte.
“We are not expecting anything imminent — we are a few years away,” she said. “So that’s where the project is at right now.”
Whalen also mentioned the upcoming Rancho Days, which is slated to kick off Oct. 1. The Association is in need of Neighborhood Captains for Neighborhood Night.
“That means we’re looking for people to host their neighbors at their home. We have one captain per street, unless it’s a longer street; then we may have a couple,” Whalen said. “Basically, they invite their neighbors into their home and serve a potluck. We’ve got a full schedule over the nine days of events and that will be posted soon.”
