Meet new sheriff captain at community program meeting

ENCINITAS – Traffic remains one of the top concerns residents in the coastal North County communities have been voicing to sheriff’s officials ever since the department began its Coffee with the Community series since at least a year ago.

Henry Tirado with the Sheriff’s department Encinitas substation said the community relations program allows residents to meet deputies and command staff, including introducing the new North County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Theresa Adams-Aydar at their next meeting May 15.

Adams-Aydar is replacing Capt. Robert Haley, who retired about a month ago, according to Tirado.

Lt. Amy Brown-Lisk is also a new addition to the substation.

Since the program began, based on the concerns the department hears, Tirado said they’ve been able to act on those issues.

“Whether it’s a traffic issue or crime in the community, we have one of the lowest crime rates in the community,” he said. “And we continue to lower that rate exponentially over the period since Capt. Haley alone has been here,” Tirado added.

The substation covers the communities of Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe.

A Coffee with the Community meeting is scheduled for May 15 at the Burger King at 242 El Camino Real in Encinitas from 8 to 9 a.m.
