Man suspected of DUI crashes into house, rolls Range Rover

CARSLBAD — At approximately 5:16 a.m. Carlsbad police received an incomplete 911 call from a male subject in the 2700 block of Vista del Oro. Dispatchers could hear a female in the background saying, “What are you doing?” and the call disconnected. A few minutes later police received another 911 call from an adult female saying that her son was high on cocaine, crashed into the house and may have left in a black Range Rover.
At the same time, police dispatchers began getting several additional 911 calls about a rollover traffic collision at the intersection of Alga Road and Alicante involving a black Range Rover.
Upon arrival, police officers found that the driver, later identified as Thomas MacMillan, had been ejected from the vehicle and was laying unconscious near the vehicle. As officers checked into MacMillan’s well-being, he got up and fled into traffic in the intersection. Officers were able to apprehend MacMillan after a short foot chase.
Officers responded to MacMillan’s residence and were told that he had become paranoid from cocaine use. MacMillan fled his residence crashing through a closed garage door. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Scripps Encinitas for treatment of injuries received during the traffic collision.
