Commentary on Arizona immigration law inaccurate

The commentary by Tracy Emblem concerning the Arizona immigration law, published in the May 7 edition of The Coast News, contains the following false statement: “The Arizona law requires people to produce a birth certificate or passport or be subject to jail … “
In fact,
The law says: “A person is presumed to not be an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States if the person provides to the law enforcement officer or agency any of the following:
— A valid Arizona driver license.
— A valid Arizona non-operating identification license.
— A valid tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification.
— If the entity requires proof of legal presence in the United States before issuance, any valid United States federal, state or local government issued identification.”
One wonders if Ms. Emblem is simply mistaken, or intentionally distributing inaccurate information.

Tea Party outrage not aimed just at Obama

Judd Handler asked (Letters, May 7, 2010) where the outrage was from the Tea Partiers when Bush was blowing the budget. Well, Tea Partiers are relatively new, but conservatives have been around a long while and I can assure you that they were mad at Bush. Unfortunately it is difficult for our voices to be heard. You can’t hear us on any of the numerous left-wing “alphabet networks” and cable programs. It is difficult to get letters published in newspapers as the editors tend to favor the other side. News organizations like AP, NYT and Reuters are left-leaning and control their content accordingly. We are also too busy working for a living to assemble for protests, unlike the left who have Rent-a-Mobs readily available with students and union members who are paid to attend.
Our main voices are Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, who can say publicly what we generally think. These two are conservatives rather than Republicans. If you ventured beyond your liberal circles and listened to these people directly, you would know that they both ripped Bush on these spending issues. Spending on the “right” comes from RINOs. A prime example is Schwarzenegger, who is now as far left as the rest of the Kennedy family.
Obama’s race has absolutely nothing to do with his likeability. He and Pelosi and Reid are all equally despised for their socialist agenda and arrogance. They are hell-bent on destroying the American economy and our future. This alone has activated the Tea Party movement. What Obama et al are doing is a thousand times more serious than the piddling expansion of programs by Bush. We are still mad at Bush, but absolutely livid at Obama. You should be too.

Cardiff school board needs to put students first
Cardiff School District must make important, thoughtful decisions when it comes to where budget cuts should be made, decisions that put children first! The Cardiff School District is administratively top heavy with one superintendent and two principals in a small two school district totaling 700 students. By cutting one of the administrative positions, money would be available to maintain and improve the schools’ education
program. The superintendent could also be the principal of one of the two schools. Small school districts, like San Pasqual, have one person who is both principal and superintendent. Or, perhaps both principals could share the responsibilities of the superintendent. By cutting an administrative position, Cardiff could put money back into valuable programs like science, music, and art and retain more teachers to keep class size down. Clearly, the Cardiff School District school board needs to re-evaluate what is best for students. Teachers, small class size, enrichment programs are what benefit a child’s education, not a surplus of administrators. Cardiff parents, be aware of the important decisions your school board is making concerning your child’s education.

Well, she’s both an attorney and Democratic candidate, which could mean she’s probably well trained at talking out both side of her mouth or lying while smiling…I read somewhere it was a prerequisite!
